Chennai is the International Headquarters of the Theosophical Society. Nearby Pondicherry has interesting French Quarters and houses the famous Auroville and Aurobindo Ashram. Chidambaram, Tanjore, Madurai and a host of other nearby towns house exquisite Hindu temples. The adjacent State of Kerala is renowned for its backwaters and beaches, aptly titled "God's Own Country"!
